The magazine U.S. NEWS AND WORLD REPORT has included Bexley High
School in the top 505 of its first ever list of America’s Best
High
Schools. Bexley scored a silver medal, a ranking achieved by
only seven other Franklin County public high schools. The
ranking shows which schools set the best examples of “how to
prepare students to achieve their post-graduation goals.”
According to Principal John Kellogg, “Essentially, to ‘score’
well in the ranking, a school needs to
provide programs that work to help ALL students be academically
successful."

The 2006 - 2007 staff of Bexley High School's newspaper, THE
TORCH, has been recognized with the "All-American" rating from
the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA). This rating is
the highest honor given to student newspapers by the NSPA. In
addition, THE TORCH received special "Marks of Distinction" in
four judging categories: coverage and content; writing and
editing; layout and design; and leadership. Advised by faculty
member Julie Horger, the 2006 - 2007 TORCH staff was led by
co-editors Jonathan Carroll, Ben Kassoy, and Carrie Schedler.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association has recognized Bexley
High School for the 4th consecutive year with the Harold A.
Meyer Sportsmanship, Ethics, and Integrity Award. This award is
based on an extensive application process that details Bexley's
comprehensive program to promote sportsmanship, ethics, and
integrity among athletes, fans, student body, coaching staff,
and community. Bexley High School is one of approximately 90 of
the OHSAA's 831 member high schools to be recognized. "I want to
congratulate all of our fans, students, parents, and community
members who have helped us to achieve our goal," said Athletic
Director John Morgan.

Terry Black Outdoor Learning
Center
The Montrose Elementary School PTO is developing plans for the
Terry Black Outdoor Learning Center in honor of his retirement
after 29 years of service to the Bexley school community, 24 of
those years as principal of Montrose.
