HONORARY ALUMNI
Barbara Greiner
I graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1966 and earned a Bachelor of
Science Degree in Education from The Ohio State University in 1971.
As most spouses of Bexley graduates do, I moved to Bexley with my
husband, Tim Greiner, a 1965 graduate of Bexley High School. We had
four daughters, all Bexley High School graduates. Allison ‘94, Ady
‘96, Angela ‘98 and Ashley ‘01. Two of my sons-in-law are also
Bexley graduates, Michael Vincent ‘92 and Justin Morrow ‘00. I have
five granddaughters and hope that at least some of them will also be
Bexley graduates. Some days I feel like I really did graduate from
Bexley.
When asked to be Honorary Bexley Alumni, my first thought was "you
mean Tim." He loved the days he spent at Bexley High School and the
tremendous group of men he called his friends. The friendships he
developed at Bexley lasted to the day he died last August and
continue through their spiritual bond today. I could recite to you
by heart all the stories about "the boys" Gary Herwald, Ed Wagstaff,
Ed Weston, Tom Williamson, Joe Sebering, Leon Friedland , Kenny
Stone and Billy Caplin. I witnessed first hand how wonderful an
experience Bexley High School generously offers its students.
I have been with the Bexley Recreation Department since 1989 and
have been blessed to be affiliated with the Bexley Recreation
Scholarship Fund and DARN (Developmental Assets Resource Network).
The definition of affiliate is to associate oneself with - I am just
the person who connects the needs of some with the generosity of
others. I accept the honor of Honorary Alumni for all the many
people who have generously contributed both to the Bexley Recreation
Scholarship Fund and DARN. I also accept this honor for all the
members of the DARN Board. They are truly the most noble group of
individuals to have walked through my life.
