Now

Daryl graduated from Bexley in 1958.  She has studied classical ballet since childhood, including intensive instruction in New York with a special emphasis on teacher-training classes. 

She has taught ballet in Columbus for more than 40 years and is one of the founders of BalletMet.

In 1974, she began presenting lecture-demonstrations and movement workshops in area schools for BalletMet and has participated in the Greater Columbus Arts Council’s “Artists-in-Schools” program since its inception in 1976.

Daryl was named BalletMet’s Director of Education in 1981 and in 1988 became Artistic Associate of the Dance Academy, overseeing the artistic development and growth of its students and faculty.

In 1991 she received the statewide Ohio Dance Award for distinguished lifetime contributions to dance education.  She was awarded the 1998 Doctor’s Hospital Golden Achievement Award in the Arts.  Beginning in 2001, she served for three years as Academy Director at BalletMet and retired from her administrative position in 2004 to continue as a full-time faculty member of the Academy.
