Webmaster's note:
Dean Browne passed away in Columbus, Ohio on Friday, August 20, 2004.
Dean
Browne has been a woodcarver for over 40 years. The subjects of his
carvings are drawn from his many years as a yachtsman and a lifetime of
hunting and fishing.
His carvings range
from all types of wading birds to giant whales to small brook
trout. Browne is a member of the super-realist school. His works are
wood sculptures that use the character of the wood and pigments to
express the essence of his subjects.
In recent years he has
offered a unique kind of trophy for the catch and release fishermen.
Using measurements, descriptions, and if possible photos, he custom
carves and paints a life size replica of each catch. Dean has sold
carvings in over 35 states, Europe, and the Far East and produces
approximately 100 pieces each year, all signed and numbered.
Commissioned orders
for most any subject welcomed.
The
work of Dean Browne is steadily gaining recognition and popularity.
Be certain that you
don't miss a chance to see his beautiful work whenever and wherever it
is shown.
Dean Browne's
experiences as a U.S. Naval Officer and subsequent years as captain of
his ocean going sailboat, have given him the rare opportunity to observe
many creatures of the sea and shore in their natural habitats.
Dean's life
experiences as an outdoorsman , hunter, fisherman, and conservationist
also contribute to his artistic feel and personal style reflected in
many of his sculptured subjects.
