Ms. Hardesty to Receive Recognition

Kara Hardesty, an intervention specialist and field hockey coach at Bexley High School, will receive the district’s Star Thrower Award at this Monday’s regular Board of Education Meeting, Jan 10, 2011 at 6:30pm in the Cassingham Complex Community Room.

Ms. Hardesty’s Mid-Ohio League colleagues recently named her the league’s 2010 Coach of the Year.  She has boosted school spirit at Bexley High School by creating a new student organization called Roar Corps.

Bexley Superintendent Mike Johnson and Board of Education President Joan Fishel will present Ms. Hardesty with the Star Thrower award that recognizes staff members who go the extra distance to help students.

“We appreciate Kara's commitment to the Roar Corps,” noted Bexley Principal of Secondary Schools, Harley Williams.  “Her efforts have not only increased fan support at our athletic events, they have created a sense of community for our student body.”  He said he has been impressed by the sense of pride Bexley students have for their school, teams, athletes, and coaches.

Ms. Hardesty began teaching in Bexley Schools in 2002; this is her 15th year in the field.

“Coach Hardesty emphasizes sportsmanship, while developing an appreciation for the sacrifices our student-athletes have made for their school and teams,” said Mr. Williams.
