FEATURES K. B. Sharp to play for WNBA New York Liberty
Kristin Brooke Sharp ’99 New York Liberty Senior Vice President and General Manager Carol Blazejowski announced the selection of Kristin Brooke Sharp ’99 (nicknamed K.B.) in the 2003 WNBA Draft. K.B. was the 4th pick of the Liberty in the draft and was able to make the team - the 1st and 3rd picks did not. K.B., a 5’-9” point guard from the University of Cincinnati was a first team All-Conference USA selection this past season. K.B.’s 13.6 ppg placed her third on the team while leading the Bearcats with 5.9 assists per game. She broke her own UC single-season records for assists (205) and minutes (1,214) as a junior. She ended her career holding the Cincinnati records for assists in a game (13) and career (623).
Coach Richie Adubato said that K.B. showed an ability to handle the ball, run the point and beat the press. He said she showed a lot more savvy than they thought when they watched her at Cincinnati and has been the biggest surprise of the 2003 training camp, showing tremendous speed, poise and confidence for a rookie.
