BEXLEY LANDMARKS PRESERVATION COMMITTEE
NEWS RELEASE

April 6, 2004

A group of citizens concerned about preserving buildings of historical or architectural significance has recently formed the Bexley Landmarks Preservation Committee to pursue and implement its preservation goals. The Committee held its first meeting in January.

The Committee members will identify buildings and homes to be considered for preservation as outstanding or unique examples of architectural styles or building materials, a structure built early in Bexley’s history, or association with a famous person or event.

The Committee was formed after Dorri Steinhoff, who had sought to preserve an old carriage house that was subsequent demolished, came to the Bexley Historical Society for help in preventing the destruction of other historically or architecturally significant buildings in the city.  Steinhoff and Thomas Hooker, Jr., a trustee of the Bexley Historical Society, formed the Bexley Landmarks Preservation Committee to initiate such efforts.

The Committee is currently seeking information and suggestions about buildings that might be considered for preservation.  If you wish to propose a building for preservation, please contact Hooker at (614) 253-8325 or Steinhoff at (614) 251-0290.  You may also complete the Historical House or Building Information form and mail it to Hooker at 329 N. Cassingham Rd., Bexley OH 43209.
