New Police Station
Opens

Planning for the new police station began more than 10 years before
ground was broken November 16, 2008. The building at 559 N. Cassingham
opened December 31 for full police operations.
The new station includes a state of the art shooting range, work-out
facility, interview rooms, police cruiser shelter and port for
processing evidence, three holding cells and a training room, all spread
among three floors.
City officials are seeking special environmentally friendly
certification for the new station. Special concrete in the parking lot
allows water to drain through the surface, preventing runoff into
overwhelmed storm sewers, and recycled tires absorb the crack of gunfire
at the firing range.
