John Clark John
was born in Trenton, New Jersey and graduated from Trenton H.S.
where there were 4800 students and eleven minutes between classes.
There were 1800 students in his graduating class! While in school,
John played football and baseball. While
in the Air Force, John found himself located at Lockbourne Air
Force base. He liked
it here so well that he stayed and has lived in the area for over
35 years. John
joined the maintenance department for the Bexley schools in 1964
and worked there for 34 years in maintenance and later as
buildings & grounds supervisor.
He began driving the school bus soon after he was hired,
when Mr. Metcalf drove the bus to an event, handed John the keys
and said, “That’s how it’s done.”
At that time Bexley had only one bus.
John had never driven a bus before, but he enjoyed the job
and drove from then until he retired.
He shuttled hundreds of Bexley athletes to their various
events all over the state. John was not only involved with sports and athletes in Bexley. He coached the 10 and 12 year olds in the Southwest Licking Little League for 25 years. |
