Happy
New Year! On behalf of the entire board of the Alumni Association, I
hope that everyone had a nice holiday season and a happy and safe new
year.
The Alumni Association had a great 2006 and we are looking forward to an
even better 2007. We were pleased to donate $5000 to the high school for
their new Global Science Technology classroom that is still under
construction but is going to be a great addition for many years. We
tried a new event in the fall; a tailgate party on September 15th before
the Lions home football game against Heath. The weather was great, the
pizza (from Pizza Plus and fellow alum Brad Rocco) was outstanding, the
band (under the direction of fellow alum Jeff Schneider) came by for a
private concert, and the football team even gave us a win! This was a
free event to the entire community and we hope to do something similar
again this year. We also enjoyed some greater success with our second
annual toy drive in December in conjunction with the Columbus
firefighters. The Key Club, a newly founded community service
organization in the high school, assisted us with the project and we
were able to collect more toys and provide a brighter holiday season for
children all over central Ohio. Thank you to everyone who supported and
attended these events. We couldn't do it without you!
As the year moves on, we are looking forward to presenting our three
annual scholarships, the 4th of July parade and block party and our
annual luncheon on September 16th at the Columbus Country Club. After
the parade on the 4th, be sure to stop by Jeffrey Mansion and visit our
tent where we will have class rosters so you can see what old classmates
are doing or update your own information. We have some fantastic
honorees this year, so the annual luncheon is also a great place to come
and have a nice lunch with old friends.
We are always open for new suggestions on events, donations and anything
else you would like to see. Please feel free to contact any of us.
Thank you again for your continued support and we look forward to seeing
you soon.
