William B. Salt II
Bill began his education in kindergarten at Cassingham Elementary School and continued through the Bexley school system until his graduation. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Arts and Sciences in 1969 and his degree in medicine in 1972 from OSU. He trained another five years in internal medicine and gastroenterology at Vanderbilt University Hospitals where he also served as Chief Resident in Medicine. He is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology and is a Clinical Associate Professor in Medicine at OSU. Bill is the senior partner with the Ohio Gastroenterology Group in Columbus. His primary hospital is Mount Carmel West where he serves as chairman of the Continuing Medical Education Committee and Educational Director in Gastroenterology. He is actively involved in teaching medical students and residents in medicine, family practice, surgery, orthopedic surgery and obstetrics / gynecology. He was honored by his students in 1978-1979 as Teacher of the Year in Medicine and in 1995-1996 was the first non-family practice physician to be chosen as the Family Practice Residency Teacher of the Year. His peers have also honored him with his inclusion in the fourth listing of The Best Doctors in America. He recently received the Distinguished Educator Award , 2000 from OSU and has invited by the Bexley Education Foundation and the Dr. Judah Folkman Scientist in Residence Program to be a visiting scientist. In addition to writing several medical journal articles and a book chapter for physicians, Dr. Salt has authored two books, Irritable Bowel Syndrome & the Mind-Body/Brain-Gut Connection, and Fibromyalgia and the MindBody/Spirit Connection. Both books have been recommended by Jane Brody, science writer for the New York Times.
