Mary Hullinger Polom – Wilbraham MA
On a late summer trip
to Canterbury Cathedral and County of Kent, England, on a “Road
Scholar” study program, I had hoped to get a glimpse of the Bexley
flag mentioned in a recent Bexley newsletter, but I found that
Bexley was in a different part of Kent. I did find, however, one
mention of the town in a book on the county. It was about a church
where brass rubbing could be done, with permission. This trip was,
for me, an Anglican heritage pilgrimage.

Charlie Crumley – Sandy Springs GA
Hi Bexley!
I claim alumni status having attended Bexley first grade through
high school graduation in 1942, plus having married the sweet young
thing (Betty Dutro) that had the locker next to mine in our junior
year – she is also an alumni. – We have been married for 66 years.
The reason for this writing is several fold, but primarily to link
back.
• To let anyone interested know that we are still alive and kicking,
but we must say that old age is not for sissies.
• I have been doing a lot of writing on a variety of subjects and
posting them on my web
www.charliecrumley.net. Many of the writings reference my life
in Bexley such as my paperboy delivery of the Columbus Dispatch,
watching the airport grow from its one hangar and their getting a
control tower, and some more worldly stuff such as my freedom cycle.
Some of the alumni may find them interesting.
• And lastly, to give each of the alumni a gift. It is ready for
your pick-up on your computer at "emailhumorscrapbook."
Finally, Betty and I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and for your
best of health.

Gloria Maybrook Wells – Cincinnati OH
Have moved from
Columbus after many years there. I am now near my four
grandchildren and daughter, Lynn Warm. Still call Columbus home.
Enjoying new friends and many card games!

Polom – Wilbraham MA
Reading about the
Drexel Theater reminded me of having seen “Gone with the Wind” there
soon after its release. The State of Ohio had taken out parts of
it, and watching the uncut version of it today I can’t imagine what
they removed. I believe it gets a “G” rating today and is tame
compared with the usual fare.

December 2009 |
Charles Salt – Granville OH
In November 2009 my daughter, Betsy ’70, and I took a cruise on
the four-masted sailing ship “Wind Spirit.” The cruise began in
Lisbon, Portugal and we visited Casablanca, Marrakesh and Agadir in
Morocco and then went on to the islands of Lanzarote, Gran Canaria
and Tenerife in the Canary Islands.

Dean Sutton ’41 & Marilyn Cole Sutton ’42 - Sun City Center FL
We were proud to celebrate our 64th wedding anniversary in July
2009. Our romance began in the halls of Bexley High.

Mary Hullinger Polom – Wilbraham MA
Have been away from
Bexley for 65 years but enjoy the newsletter and don’t know of any
other high school that publishes one (among my friends and
relations).

Barbara Meyer Manaugh – Pacific Palisades CA
I’m still going to my
pottery group and making some interesting pottery with good
glazes. I’m also going to be a great-grandmother in January ’09.
This will be my third great-grandchild.
