The BHSAA assumed the administration of the Carlton Smith Scholarship Fund in 1986 and upon his death on August 5^th of that year, the fund name was changed to the Carlton Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The Fund exists to provide financial aid for higher education to worthy graduating seniors.

Each year $750.00 scholarships are awarded to one male and one female student who excel in both athletics and scholarship.

William E. L. Young Memorial Service Award

In memory of William E. L. Young, class of 1934, and one of the original organizers of the Bexley High School Alumni Association and a long-time officer and trustee, the Alumni Association has established this new scholarship. 

The $750.00 scholarship, awarded for the first time in 2001, recognizes a student for service to the community and/or school and is not necessarily dependent upon a high grade point average.
